NHS Lothian run two Bereavement Support Groups in the Edinburgh area. One group meets in the Prestonfield area of Edinburgh (EH16) and one in the Clermiston area (EH4). There is free on-street parking and a good selection of bus routes which stop outside both venues.

Everyone is welcome, whether it is a recent bereavement or a loss which happened in the past.

It is an informal and friendly group with some refreshments and a general talk about bereavement and grief and how it can affect us in different ways. Each month focuses on a particular aspect of grief, but they also allow the conversation to go where people need it to at that particular time.

They hope that people coming to the session might meet others who are experiencing similar thoughts and feelings. Working with bereaved families has shown that spending time with others who understand the emotions around grief can be a great support.

You can attend as many or as few sessions as you would like. There is no cost to attend.

Sessions run from 2pm to 3.30pm on the last Tuesday of each month in EH16

Sessions run from 1pm to 2.30pm on the first Thursday of each month in EH4

If you would like to have a chat with the NHS Lothian Bereavement Service team before attending or have any questions, please let contact them through email or phone:
