Councillor Ricky Henderson welcomes the Scottish Government announcement of £1.6 million funding across Scotland to help deliver services that can safely support people affected by psychological trauma.
Cllr Henderson, chair of the Edinburgh Integration Joint Board, said:
“We’re pleased with the announcement from the Scottish Government which will allow us to support our staff in the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership through training to better understand the impact trauma can have on people.
Trauma can affect anyone, sometimes from childhood events, and services should be supportive and informed when supporting people in different situations. Staff want to help and knowledge and training will contribute to better decisions and outcomes for those who need it most.
We know that the pandemic has exposed people to trauma, not only the general public, but also our colleagues within the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership. With this funding we can better support the mental health and wellbeing of our workforce which will enable them to continue supporting and caring for the people of Edinburgh.”
