To round up Carers Week 2024, we have gathered together various different resources that can help support an unpaid carer and their loved ones. Read on to find out what each of the organisations can do to help and how to contact them.

Care For Carers

Provides a range of support services for carers, including local events and short breaks, opportunities to share experiences with other carers and get practical information.

Capital Carers*

Provides a listening ear, one-to-one support as well as a range of services which enables carers to support the person they care for and assist in carrying out caring responsibilities, and ensures carers are personally looked after and have time for themselves.

Edinburgh Carers Council

Provides free, confidential and independent advocacy for carers. Services include a transitions advocacy service for carers supporting someone in mental health settings within Lothian who are in a period of transition or returning to Lothian from ‘out of area placements’, and an advocacy and peer support service specifically for carers supporting someone with an eating disorder. We also provide collective advocacy and peer support opportunities for carers of people with mental health difficulties, learning disability, acquired brain injury, dementia or autistic spectrum condition.

Eric Liddell Community

Brings people together in their local communities to enhance health and well-being and have a positive impact on their lives. Services include support for people living with dementia, including Day Care service; our wellbeing programme for unpaid carers, the Community Hub programme, including our community café.

MECOPP

By working in partnership with carers, the voluntary and statutory sectors, MECOPP actively seeks to challenge and dismantle barriers that deny Black and Minority Ethnic carers access to health, social work and other social care services in Edinburgh, the Lothians and further afield.

The Action Group
