Volunteers for Carers

Volunteers for Carers is part of Health and Social Care Edinburgh Partnership services. The project offers flexible volunteering support for unpaid carers and their loved ones. Support comes from fully checked, trained and supervised volunteers. Volunteers for Carers is designed to give carers choice and control, therefore, there are different types of support, including:

  • one to one support for the ‘cared for person’, giving the carer a break
  • one to one support for the carer to help tackle carers’ social isolation
  • support for the carer and ‘care for person’, such as extra company and support during an outing
  • gardener buddy to help with small gardening tasks and companionship

Referrals for this can be sent directly via AIS (7513) or via Social Care Direct (0131 200 2324).
